Description
Like most nativity scenes, this one brings together the gospel accounts of Jesus’ birth with all the important characters. The only difference is the wise men are trapped on the other side of the 28 foot concrete barrier that divides Bethlehem.
This nativity set holds a special place in the hearts of Bethlehem Bible College faculty, students, and staff because it is a replica of the portion of the wall that exists just over two blocks from our campus. This massive and imposing structure goes around Bethlehem (to the North and West), causing a significant amount of day-to-day suffering for Palestinian Christians. With this nativity set we are able to powerfully share the story of the current socio-political realities in Bethlehem and are reminded of the barriers that still need to be overcome in sharing the good news of God’s peace.
View this interactive map by B’tselem, an Israeli Human Rights organization, to see where the walls and settlements around Bethlehem stand.
Note: Due to the nature of olive wood and the individuality of the artisans and their processes, the product may differ slightly from the picture posted.
